Around 50 families live near White Rose Layout Hope Farm Junction, WhitefieldThe villages under Mahadevapura Assembly constituency are facing serious problems due to inadequate road infrastructure. The roads become extremely dusty in summers and muddy during the monsoon season.
Residents complain that Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials are not taking any action to get the roads paved in the layout. Two-wheeler riders face difficulty in commuting on these roads. “We are paying property tax to the BBMP. All the properties in this layout are A khata properties. It has become difficult for us to commute on these roads during monsoon. Whenever it rains, all the roads are filled with mud and slush. Recently, a woman was injured after she fell off her two-wheeler due to mud on the road on Friday,” he said. Naveen Kumar S, resident.
He said dirty water flowing from the septic pits onto the roads has become a nuisance and a health hazard for residents. “The building owners have dug the sanitary pits as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is yet to lay water and sanitary pipes on the layout,” he said.
Anilkumar Reddy, owner of a residential site in White Rose Layout, has demanded the BBMP and BWSSB officials to provide basic amenities, saying the condition of roads is getting worse day by day. “I appeal to the officials to get the roads asphalted as soon as possible for the benefit of the residents,” said Anilkumar Reddy. Stating that no development work has been carried out in the layout, resident Vijay Kumar said he has been living here for the past six years. “All the roads in this layout are mud roads. Nothing has been done so far to improve the roads. The BWSSB is yet to lay sanitary and water pipes. Whenever it rains, it becomes extremely difficult for the residents to walk on these roads.
“I appeal to the officials to fix these problems as soon as possible,” Vijay Kumar said.
When contacted, BWSSB engineer Ravi Kumar said that approval has been received from higher authorities for laying water and sanitary pipes. “We could not issue tenders due to the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha elections. We are planning to issue tenders inviting bidders for laying water and sanitary pipes on the layout. The work will start soon,” said the BWSSB engineer.
